Let's Continue Our Slumber Party!

Robirda

(Robirda) I live in Vancouver, BC, Canada - one of the prettiest spots on the Earth! - in one of the best areas of town (if Vancouver was New York, it'd be called the Village) - we call it Little Italy.
At the moment I am owned by a pair of handtame society finches and a small group of canaries, most of whom apparently think I am their own personal slave...
I have kept hamsters, rabbits, cats, dogs, ferrets, goats, pigs, cows, horses, parrots, chickens, geese, ducks, exotic finches, softbills, bugs, and more in my life!
My other hobbies, when not surfing the web or playing with my birds, usually involves my nose being in a book (I love GOOD science fiction) or else will have me ambling along a mountainside or across a local beach... if you look carefully, you never know what you will see!
These walks often produce cuttings that will eventually be added to my collection of small trees and large plants which overflows the balcony and the rest of the house, along with a few bonsai... if I can't live in the forest, then I will bring the forest in to live with me, is my philosophy! :-)

Rottiemama

(Karen) My daughter and I live in Virginia Beach, Va.
I have two wonderful children, Ryan, and Brittney.
I am the animal fanatic in the family, although my daughter is following quickly in mom's footsteps! Click Here To Visit My Home Page!

Santolina

(Brenda) I live with my husband Bill in NE NC in Currituck County, the most NE county in NC. It abuts the VA border to the north, and to the east there's the Atlantic Ocean.
I'm a secretary/bookkeeper by job description; complete goofball in reality!
And Bill is a vegetable/flower grower that sells to farm markets, and a rural mail carrier.
Our Dogs are:
Sandy Paws - came to us December 14, 2004: We were told she was 9-10 months old when we brought her into our household. She's a walker hound/lab mix, 55 lbs full-grown. We adopted her from a family that had adopted her from the Elizabeth City NC shelter.
Sandy needs room to run (we've clocked her at 35 mph and she hasn't broken a sweat, so to speak), room to hunt and to protect. She reminds me of our late Jen-Jen (another reputed walker hound/lab mix). While Jen-Jen looked more like a predominate lab mix, Sandy is definitely a predominate hound mix. She is a sweetheart.
Hoosier Daddy, yellow lab, male.
Born December 24, 2004, we got him on 1/26/2005 when he was but a few weeks old. He was neutered on 1/5/2006, and is a sweetie pie, too, who weighs in at 105 lbs.! He berfs at strange traffic (good dog!) and "picks" squash, cucumbers, and whatever else DH is picking from the fields. (The back yard is littered with his pickings, including tomatoes.)
We have 4 cats:
Caliente ~ is a tortoisehell who was running around the courthouse. I told animal control that if they could catch her, I'd take her. They caught her in October 1998, and I took her! She's probably nearly 3 yrs old;
Magic (MagiCat) ~ a black, Long-Haired female who was also in the truck! We had Phoenix neutered, and then Magi came up pregnant and gave birth to 5 kittens (4 lived) in early 2000. I found homes for two of those kittens, and still have 1:
Wahlid a/k/a "Wally," ~ (male)
We also have 3 lovebirds.
As for human children, my husband has two lovely daughters from his 1st marriage, and one has recently made us proud grandparents! :)
Interests: Pets, gardening, herbs, wildlife, reading, cooking, canning & preserving.
One of my favorite sayings: Live much, laugh often, work hard, give freely, pay on time and be kind. (Hope I can live up to that!)
All of our animals adopted us, were rescues or castaways. We're a happy, grateful bunch to have each other.

Sharon

My dh George and I have been married 24 years.
He's a Fed and I work for the University of Massachusetts.
We live in a townhouse in Southern NH surrounded by woods and work in Boston but originally are from Rochester, NY
We have 2 dogs: Dilly and April, both rescues and Heinz 57's although there is some question that April may be a Wheatan or Tibetan Terrier
We also have 3 cats: Percy, a 15 yr old male brown tabby with aqua eyes bought in a pet store,
Snigglefritz, a 13 yr old female tuxedo cat, she found us at a very young age with a broken leg, and
Gabby, a 10 yr old male brown tabby we found raiding our garbage cans as a kitten.
Our family continues with 5 canaries: Figaro, a Fife mix,
Blue, a gray & white color bred,
2 Gloster mop tops Kermit, (he's a Green gloster) and Spanky, and
Gus, a new addition, a yellow bird, no idea of background, from Petco.
I also have a 70 gallon aquarium with real plants and miscellaneous fresh water tropical fish.
I have had animals in my life for as long as I can remember including dogs, cats, rabbits, horses, parrots, finches, a cockatiel, Discus, parakeets, mice, Yorkshire hogs, Rhode Island Red & Plymouth Rock chickens, Toulouse Geese, and Pekin Ducks.

I love old books particularly the old animal stories; like the Albert Payson Terhune collie stories, Bambi, Call of the Wild and White Fang, Smoky and My Friend Flicka.

Stormy

(Charlene) My freemate/SO (Like in a Marion Zimmer Bradley book) is Jim.
We have lived many places as we are seasonal park rangers; Sequoia/Kings Canyon National Parks, Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, Redwood National Park, and the Olympic Penninsula of Washington State.
We are currently in S. California.
I have a degree in Resource Management, and Forestry, and have worked in the woods a lot, and with wetlands, and grasslands, and such.
Also I am a semi-pro nature photographer, and have another degree in Journalism.
Jim is primarily a Fishery Biologist, though Herps are his true love.
We have a Beta, George Washington Fish the 8th (?) When we stop moving so much we would like him to be in a big tank.
I love to read just about anything, as long as it's not those silly nobrainer romance things!
And together Jim and I love to hike around, and explore, and poke around looking at all the rocks and flowers and whatnot that we find out there.
We have talked about going back to college again!

Sumpthing

(Susan G.) My dh, Jim DaVia and I live in Central NY, near the Finger Lakes, where we boat all summer long.
Jim is an engineer and I have business and accounting degrees, tho I'm a "stay-at-homer" now. I worked in medical practice administration and was a national consultant in that field for years.
Our dogs are 2 "more then cute" Shih Tzu:
Riggby, our male tri-colored, and
Abbie, our balck and white!
As if you didn't know, they are the lights of our life. The are more fun then one deserves!
Human children are: Son, Anthony and daughter, Lisa Michelle
The dear, dear Daughter and Son are on their own in this vast world, loving every minute of it and majoring in "fun"! They are best friends.
We are in the process of searching for a bigger boat so that in about 4 yrs. a dream we intensely share, can unfold. We will take her down the Mississippi and on out into the ocean. We plan on being gone for 6 months. Riggby & Abbie, "our crew" will do the work, while we play!
I have one philosophy in life..and that is: To enjoy life, one must live it, not survive it!

Tagsalong

(Cynthia) I live in South Carolina.
Dh Paul and I have been together since May, 2002. We have a total of 2 dogs, and 2 darling human children:
Our human children are:
Samantha Jay, born on June 6th, 2004, and
William Frank, born on June 22nd, 2006! Tagsalong was born December 7, 1998; he is a dachshund/beagle mix. Tags loves to play with his squeaky toys, they are his favorite type!
Lakota was adopted from the humane shelter; he came to our family on June 5, 2001. He was about a year old when we adopted him. He is a Great Dane/German Shepard mix, I believe. He loves to go swimming in his pool. I have to keep it empty when it's cold or he will play in it even if the temps are too cold!

Trixiebeldon

(Heather) I am thirty, just bought a condo at the beach in NJ last year.
I work in book publishing, but I'm a sale rep, not an editor!
My dog is Casey, a handsome golden/chow?mix!

2Weims

(Joanne) Also sometimes known as Witchy Woman, and prone to stand on my head when it's time for "birthin' babies". LOL! (inside joke!;)
I'm 44 and I live in Kingston, Ontario. Known as the prison capital of Canada, but yet a picturesque location on the St. Lawrence River in the area of "The Thousand Islands". I work as a Program Delivery Officer at a local prison, but am currently on disability due to Fibromyalgia and Myofascial Pain Syndrome.
I share my home (and bed!) with a female weimaraners who is a Canadian Champions.
"Aura" (soon to be 5 years old) also has her CD, CGC, and TT.
I am a member of the CKC, and my kennel name is Damask.
I've owned dogs for most of my life, and my "gray girl" is the light of my life. I spend much of my time reading about dogs, training, health, genetics, etc. In fact, my idea of heaven would be to train dogs as a profession. To that end, I am considering taking the course necessary to become a Certified Canadian Canine Trainer.
My idea of a perfect day, is to take my dogs for a long walk through the woods nearby, or to the waterfront for a swim; then come home and relax with a good book, (either about dogs, a mystery or court drama) and look over at them sprawled on either end of the couch in exhaustion! Oh yeah, some chocolate would top the day off nicely. :)
